Under The Sea Art Workshop

Free kids art workshop (Ages 6+)

The 402 Art Collective is delighted to announce the Under The Sea Workshop. Come along and have some fun making art inspired by the undersea world on Saturday 27th from 12 noon - 2pm.

This week, artists Nadia and Niki will help you create jellyfish from recycled waste and paint oyster shells to create gorgeous works of art. Places are limited, so arrive on time to secure a spot.

These workshops form part of the "Rediscovering the underwater world along Arklow's Coastline" project supported by Creative Ireland and Wicklow County Council.

The project aims to connect local artists and community with the serious consequences of plastic litter on our marine environment through a series of workshops, talks, and an art installation. The art installation, "The Synthetic Sea", is being designed and created using plastic waste that has been gathered and sorted. The theme of the art installation will be based on our lost oyster beds and kelp forests, and the marine life which exists under the sea.

Located in Bridgewater Shopping Centre, the art collective hopes to use this busy platform to engage the passing shoppers and highlight the environmental damage of plastics in our sea. We hope this will be a catalyst for behavioural change so that future generations of humans and marine life can be sustained, and our beautiful coastal environment protected.
